Duties Include:

  • Provide general assistance and information concerning available facilities and recreational opportunities to visiting public.
  • Participate in education and outreach by assisting Park Rangers with events and duties.  
  • Assist with collection of recreational use fees and traffic control in parks.
  • Create positive connections with the visiting public through land and water patrols while actively promoting the USACE Water Safety program.
  • Perform a variety of duties involving the operation and maintenance of area facilities to include safety, security, and service inspections.
  • Assist in inspecting and reporting on trespasses, encroachments, and damages to Government property. Perform other tasks as assigned.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Driver License.

Qualifications:
To qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid exp erience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiri tua l; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualify ing based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

General and/or Specialized Experience:

Six months of general experience which includes administrative, professional, technical, investigative, or other responsible wo rk that provided a familiarity with natural or cultural history; fish or wildlife habitat characteristics; techniques of resource protection and use; recrea tio nal use of public lands and facilities; enforcement of laws, rules, or regulations; fire prevention techniques and fire suppression methods; or the practice of interpersonal relations skills in de ali ng with the general public. Experience in substantive and relevantsecretarial, clerical, or trades and crafts work is also qualifying if related to the position to be filled. Experience of a rou tine nature, such as typing, filing, maintaining records, or other non specialized tasks is not qualifying. AND 6 months of specialized experience in technical, administrative or scientific work, fis h and wildlife management, recreation management, law enforcement or other park related work.

OR

Education: Two years of education above the high school level with twelve semester hours of related course work in natural resource mana ge ment, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science, social sciences, museum sciences, b usi ness administration, public administration, behavioral sciences, sociology, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural res our ces.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the req uirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hou rs of education by 60. Add the two percentages.
