We are looking for a People Support Officer to provide key recruitment management and HR support for the DBT North America team. This role will require an organized, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic individual, able to communicate easily with people at all levels of the organization. Working closely with the Head of People and the Regional HR teams, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing recruitment processes, administering our rewards and recognitions program, HR administration, and assisting with professional development initiatives.
Roles and responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with hiring managers across the North America Trade and Investment network to initiate recruitment campaigns in partnership with HR in Washington and Ottawa.
- Collaborate with hiring managers to understand the role. Identify and draft accurate job descriptions and hiring criteria, provide guidance, and recommend media source for advert.
- Quality check all hiring paperwork and submit to HR ready for approval.
- Social media promotion of vacancies to reach diverse applicant pool.
- Identify and deploy effective applicant sourcing methods to find job candidates.
- Attend job fairs, campus events and other hiring and networking opportunities as appropriate.
- Work with Hiring Managers and HR to produce sift and attend interviews, as needed.
- Ensure compliance with internal processes and Service Level Agreements and conduct follow-up for an efficient hiring process.
- Develop and improve current recruiting processes for the North America Trade and Investment network.
- Maintain hiring metrics and assist with monthly people reports.
2. Support the Head of People in delivery of on-boarding and learning and development programmes:
- Complete arrival and departure notifications.
- Support development of orientation, induction, and skills training for employees.
- Support development of unique training programs to improve employee job skills and career development.
- Support delivery of people focussed projects in collaboration with managers and employees.
3. Administration of all aspects of monthly bonus and awards programme.

- Relevant work experience in a recruitment coordination or administrative role;
- Ability to create and implement sourcing strategies for recruitment for a variety of roles;

Language: English

Working patterns:
This role is 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday. The consulate does not have a long working hours culture. The UK in Canada Network offers a strong benefits package. The successful candidate should be willing to undertake occasional travel in North America and to the UK, as well as represent DBT and the British Consulate at external functions (during working hours and very occasionally evenings).

The British Consulate’s current policy asks staff to work in the office 60% of time, with the remainder available to work from home. Applicant is expected to appear in person for approx 60% of week but working from home is permitted and encouraged when realistic to do so.
