Henderson Wholesale is a leading Wholesaler in Northern Ireland and supplies goods to over 450 stores across various brands such as SPAR, EUROSPAR and VIVO. We source from local farmers, growers and producers and are proud to contribute to our local economy and environment.

The purpose of the role:
Our Health, Safety and Wellbeing Assistant will focus on compliance, legislation and best practice that keeps every Henderson employee safe and well. You will assist our team in ensuring the group meets our legal and ethical requirements as a responsible employer.

This is an ideal placement for an enthusiastic and proactive individual on a Health and Safety Career pathway.

As Health, Safety and Wellbeing Assistant you will:

  • Liaise with the Occupational Health Advisor to ensure all statutory health surveillance and legal requirements are planned and scheduled
  • Carry out audits/inspections throughout the estate to detect existing or potential hazards, helping to implement recommended corrective or preventative measures
  • Log and investigate all accidents, incidents and near misses involving employees, suppliers and customers on the health and safety database, support in the identification of root causes, document and help to implement corrective actions in a timely manner
  • Assist the team with providing statistical analysis of accident/incident numbers, types and trends
  • Support health promotion activities as part of the Group Well Aware initiatives

Skills for Success

Joining us as Health, Safety and Wellbeing Assistant the minimum criteria you’ll need is:

  • Working towards a third level Environmental health or Health and safety related degree (2nd year or equivalent credits complete)
  • Full UK Driving License

The Attributes you’ll need include:

  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to use initiative; you’ll enjoy asking questions to find out what people need and identifying solutions to support and enable colleagues
  • A methodical and logical approach to information, ensuring that processes are efficient and effective
  • Strong ability to use MS Office, particularly excel and powerpoint

It is Desirable if you had:

  • Practical knowledge of the retail & logistics operational environment

The successful applicant will be working 36.5 hours per week, 8:45am – 4:45pm Monday to Thursday, and 8:45am-3:45pm Friday.
