Under the direct supervision of a registered nurse in the Urology clinic, LVN performs a wide variety of patient care activities in support of patient care. This includes prioritizing and assisting in the patient triage processing, preparation and assistance with urology examinations, administering medications, collection and preparing laboratory tests, patient education and provide assistance with rooming and completing vital in-take of patient when needed. Requires initiative with ability to work in a busy Urology clinic. Ability to prioritize critical demands and the ability to work in a team environment. This also includes pre-procedure data collection, assist physician and team during procedures and assist in post-procedure recovery area.
This position, functioning within the state of California and UCSD scope of practice, administer medications, and participate in patient and family education before and after procedure. This position will also assist with sterile processing of instruments, as well as room turnover, all in compliance with UCSD MCPs. Ability to prioritize critical demands and the ability to work in a team environment. Job standards are to be performed at the expert level.

Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) issued by the state of California.

BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

A minimum of two (2) years of LVN experience.

Demonstrated knowledge of universal precautions and proper use of body mechanics.
- Bilingual: English/Spanish.
- ACLS and/or ART.
- Ambulatory Care experience.
- Experience with Urology nursing procedures such as catheter changes and bladder instillations.
- Experience with sterile processing of instruments.
- Experience with urology procedures, including prostate biopsies and cystoscopies.
- Experience with EPIC/electronic medical record.
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $69,322 – $86,193 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $33.20 – $41.28
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
