Summary

Save the Children is seeking an Early Childhood Education & Inclusion Intern to support the work of the Head Start Mental Health and Education & Inclusion Advising Team. This virtual internship offers a unique opportunity to collaborate closely with the Senior Advisor, Mental Health and Advisor, Education & Inclusion focusing on data management, analysis, and reporting to enhance program goals, child well-being and school readiness/child outcomes. Responsibilities include reviewing Teaching Strategies Gold (TSG) and Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) data, providing feedback, and aiding in report development for the local Head Start Policy Council and Head Start Governing Board. You will also support the Advisor, Education & Inclusion in data management and strategic goal development, while providing direct assistance to Education & Inclusion Managers, Coaches, and Teachers in utilizing data for professional development and creating family/child take-home activities.

What You’ll be Doing (Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Impact)

  • Collaborate with the Senior Advisor, Mental Health and Advisor, Education & Inclusion to review and explore child outcomes data from Teaching Strategies GOLD. Assisting State Head Start Programs in developing action plans for supporting mental wellness.
  • Provide feedback on Child Outcomes Report and CLASS data.
  • Assist in developing Child Outcomes & CLASS end of year report and presentation for the local Head Start Policy Councils and Head Start Governing Board.
  • Support Education & Inclusion Managers in data management, analysis, and goal development.
  • Review and provide feedback on Education Managers and Education Coaches’ reports and data.
  • Meet with leadership to explore child outcomes data and support their understanding of data utilization.
  • Provide direct support to Education & Inclusion Managers, Coaches, and Teachers in utilizing data for professional development and individualized learning opportunities.
  • Conduct data analysis based on CLASS instrument domains.
  • Assist in identifying training and technical assistance needs for local programs.
  • Create family/child take-home activities to strengthen the home-school connection.
  • Analyze data from family/child take-home activities to assess their effectiveness in strengthening the home-school connection and inform future activity development.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be an actively enrolled in an Associate, Bachelor, Master or other post high school education program, or have graduated within 6 months of intern program start date
  • Possess strong written skills, solid interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, and web-based conferencing technology like Microsoft Teams and Zoom™.
  • Currently eligible to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge in the philosophy and practices of Head Start/Early Head Start
  • Experience with data-sensitive environments
  • Experience working with culturally and socio-economically diverse families and children

Part-time: 16-24 hours per week (up to 8 hours max per day)

Compensation: $17 / hour
