What we want 

The PEP Program Coordinator I, under general supervision, coordinates the Pushing the Education and Human Development Pipeline (PEP) program for prospective and current transfer students pursuing a degree in education and/or human resource development through the School of Education & Human Development at either Texas A&M or Texas A&M Higher Education Center at McAllen. This position is located in College Station, Texas. What you need to know

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.

Other Factors: This position requires work beyond standard business hours to include nights and weekends. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Two years of related experience in student services, admissions, recruitment, or financial aid.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills with individuals or in a group setting.
  • Knowledge of financial aid programs and federal regulations relating to student financial aid.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills with working knowledge of standard office equipment and computers.
  • Ability to work well with students and parents.
  • Ability to use word processing and spreadsheet programs.
  • Ability to work as a team member in a dynamic organization, possessing a positive attitude and is customer service oriented.
  • Must be literate in the English language and able to comprehend and follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to perform accurately in a detail-oriented environment with good interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and make decisions and work well under pressure in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to speak Spanish and English (Bilingual).
  • Ability to develop and make presentations.
  • Ability to design, develop, conduct, and assess effective programs.
  • State of Texas class “C” vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.

Essential Duties/Tasks

Recruitment

  • Works in conjunction with Undergraduate Recruitment, Office of Admissions, and various other departments to coordinate the recruitment of prospective and current transfer students interested in pursuing a degree in education and/or human resource development through the School of Education & Human Development at either Texas A&M or Texas A&M Higher Education Center at McAllen.
  • Works directly with prospective students and parents through the entire admissions, scholarship, and financial aid application process; follow-up on specific questions; troubleshooting any issues.
  • Coordinates with community college advisors to facilitate the admissions, financial aid, and scholarship application process.
  • Coordinates SEHD specific recruitment activities such as campus trips, presentations, resource tables, application workshops and designated area projects.
  • Organizes, implements, and reports on programs/projects including marketing, accommodations, itineraries, meals, speakers, and records.

Program Communications

  • Proactively shares available academic, professional, and health and wellness resources (e.g., Academic Success Center, Career Center, Student Organizations, etc.).
  • Meets with and refers students to available resources and departments.
  • Interacts with community college advisors, administration, and staff to provide and exchange information and to enhance the counseling and advisement of students considering/planning on transferring to Texas A&M or Texas A&M Higher Education Center at McAllen.
  • Conducts presentations as needed at conferences.
  • Establishes community contacts in select areas in the market or region.
  • Collaborates with MarComm and other departments to develop and revise admissions and financial aid consumer information materials, publications and brochures for prospective students and their parents, as well as for college, department, and university use.

Student Engagement

  • Consistently engages student population utilizing various outreach methods (e.g., in- person and online) to cultivate a professional relationship to keep students informed of critical and relevant personal, academic, and professional deadlines, updates, information and events.
  • Has meaningful and constructive engagement with students and parents to ensure student success.
  • Assists in the planning and/or delivery of various department related advising, student success, retention events and academic campaigns.
  • Educates and guides students through various academic processes (e.g., registration, add/drop, Q drops, etc.) by sharing university and college policies, program requirements, transfer credit decisions, etc.

Professional Development

  • Participates in in-class and on-the-job training programs.
  • Participates in professional development regularly. Attends and presents at state, regional, and/or local conferences.
  • Represents the School of Education and Human Development on campus, on committees, within the community, and/or at the state level when needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Knowledge

  • Develops a working knowledge of university information, opportunities, and policies.
  • Maintains knowledge of current federal, state, and institutional policies, procedures and regulations pertaining to financial aid and admissions.
