National Parks Conversation Association (NPCA), the nation’s oldest and largest national parks nonprofit advocate, has an exciting opportunity for Latino Community Outreach & Engagement Fellow.   

NPCA’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Office seeks an individual passionate about environmental conservation and historic preservation to support campaigns and events focused on protecting the region’s national parks. This is a part-time, remote opportunity (20 hours per week) with a flexible schedule. Preference will be given to candidates in proximity to Philadelphia, PA or Wilmington, DE. 

The right candidate will be able to participate in both in-person and virtual events and meetings in the Philadelphia, PA and Wilmington, DE area, as well as work virtually on planning and developing events.

This position will assist with events to support Latino community outreach and engagement in the Philadelphia, PA and Wilmington, DE areas. Activities will include identifying and reaching out to community groups, preparing advocacy materials, supporting event logistics, and participating in meetings with internal and external stakeholders.

Location:  Philadelphia, PA or Wilmington, DE

Schedule: Part-time; up to 20 hours per week

Compensation: $20-25

Tangible deliverables that will be achieved: 

This Fellow will support NPCA in hosting an event focused on engaging the Latino community and building support for the region’s national parks. This fellow will identify community groups in the area and conduct outreach activities in support of the event. Additionally, there will be opportunities to participate in meetings with NPCA staff and our partners.     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current or recent college graduate (within one year of graduation)
  • Proficiency in both English and Spanish language is preferred.
  • Background or experience in community outreach, event planning, and/or environmental policy issues preferred.
  • Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Enthusiasm, positive attitude, and interest in national park and environmental issues.
  • Demonstrates an awareness and sensitivity to the needs and concerns of individuals from diverse cultures, backgrounds, and orientations.

Physical Effort and Dexterity: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is typically required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee may lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job may include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
