Semiconductor Process Tech
Job Description
The Semiconductor Process Technician will perform process development and process characterization work related to semiconductor device fabrication. This position supports and takes direction from Process Engineering. The individual will process lots, resolve process and tool issues, improve yield by making minor adjustments to equipment, write and update equipment operation procedures, train customers on tool use, and design, execute, and document experiments. The position works under engineering supervision, and typically reports to a senior process engineer.

Salary Range
$33.15 – $36.06 per hour; DOE
Essential Duties
- Performs process development and process characterization under the guidance and supervision of Process Engineering.
- Performs experiments related to process development, qualification, and monitoring.
- Performs test runs and documentation for presentation to engineering.
- Reviews, modifies and rewrites existing tool operation procedures.
- Performs equipment maintenance and works with internal and external personnel to support efficient and reliable tool operation.
- Trains customers on how to operate processing equipment.
- Reports tool health via Process Control charting.
Minimum Qualifications
Associates Degree in related field, OR two (2) years experience working in a semiconductor device processing area; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with chemical handling
- Experience with process characterization and monitoring tools/techniques, i.e. DOE and SPC
- Experience in semiconductor research labs
- Experience with vacuum systems and pumps
- Experience with metrology equipment used for semiconductor device processing
- Experience with thin film deposition techniques/tools
- Demonstrated knowledge of dry etch processes and chemistries
- Demonstrated knowledge of semiconductor device operation/physics.
Working Environment
The majority of the duties are performed in a cleanroom wearing a “bunny suite”, mask, safety glasses, and gloves. Therefore, the individual must be comfortable standing and sitting for extended periods wearing cleanroom attire. The work involves chemical handling and disposal, both wet and gaseous. Chemicals handling will require donning the appropriate personal protective equipment. Work in an office setting may also be required, which may involve extended periods of sitting, working at a computer. Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.

ASU NanoFab is a flexible nanoscale processing and fabrication facility at Arizona State University offering state-of-the-art semiconductor device processing and characterization tools for university research and external company prototype development.
Our core strengths are nanofabrication, unique silicon processing, molecular- and bioelectronics, microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), nano-fluidics, optoelectronics and device characterization. The expertise of our skilled staff, several of whom have more than 25 years of experience, is also available to users.
The NanoFab’s 3,800 square-foot class 100 cleanroom and auxiliary labs provide resources and infrastructure supporting research and education of numerous faculty members, post-doctoral researchers and students drawn from various disciplines, including electrical engineering, chemical engineering, bioengineering, materials science, mechanical engineering, physics, chemistry and industrial engineering.
