Job Description
To own and lead a number of projects at any one time, ranging from smaller improvement projects, to large capital, transformation projects. The role is to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget, that the project’s objectives are met and improvements are sustained.
The role will involve input and support concept creation, moving through to appropriate scoping, planning, execution and project review, ensuring that objectives, timelines, milestones and stakeholders are agreed and managed throughout the duration of each project. With larger projects, risks, assumptions, issues and decisions should be logged, risked assessed and managed with action plans to mitigate risks.
Reporting in to the Head of Logistics, this role will be part of the Logistics leadership team and as such will be expected to have a positive impact on the Logistics P&L and the teams and partners involved, in terms of knowledge, development and process.
The role will also include aspects of Continuous Improvement methodology and also support the Head of Logistics in the overall delivery of the full year Budget and vision. There is a large number of initiatives within Snack foods and the wider Group that need to be scoped out and range from small improvements to network design and contract negotiations and might be asked to support projects in other sites or functions and support the wider project management community.
Key Accountabilities
- For managing and prioritising the full list of Logistics initiatives and projects.
- Assigning and managing resources in order to optimise delivery.
- Communicating updates to key stakeholders (sometimes external) and ensuring projects remain on track.
- Leads major projects and ensures their delivery.
- Works with multi-stakeholders, different functions and sometimes Customers and external partners.
- Work with prospective suppliers and negotiate in order to get the best costs and service.
- Engage people across the value chain in order to get the best end to end outcome.
- Manage multiple project plans effectively.
- Manages risk and opportunities and where relevant scenario plans.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Cover leadership roles or line manager.
- Involvement & leading of Continuous Improvement projects or focus groups.
- Supporting external audits and supporting and conducting internal audits.
Qualifications
Essential
- Able to effectively manage people, systems and processes
- knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management
- Experience in project management capacity. Knowledge of project management techniques and tools
- Proven experience in people management, strategic planning and risk management
- Ability to work alone or as part of team
- Good management experience
- Sound working knowledge of Microsoft office products
Desirable
- Experience in an organisation that has experienced rapid change and transformation
- Qualification in project management or equivalent
- Proficient in project management software
