Play On Philly (POP) is a leading non-profit organization
providing after-school music instruction to over 300 K-12 students
in communities that have little or no access to formal music
education. Through our work, we help children and youth in
Philadelphia aspire to success, realize their full potential for
growth, and become instruments of change in our society.

As our Director of Development you will create, lead, and direct
our fundraising and development initiatives and play a key role in
ensuring the financial stability of the organization. Reporting to
POP’s Executive Director, you are responsible to:

  • Lead the work of the Development Team to design and implement
    fundraising initiatives to support Play On Philly’s continued
    growth
  • Work closely with the Executive Director and the Board of
    Directors in stewarding gifts, obtaining grants, and cultivating
    donors to enhance POP’s financial position
  • Lead and participate in the hiring and growth of staff for the
    Development Team
  • Collaborate with our Grants Writer to support and grow our
    extensive grants portfolio
  • Serve as POP’s staff liaison for Development at Board of
    Directors’ meetings and to the Board’s Development Committee
  • Manage the budgets for the Development Department and the
    annual fundraising event
  • Lead the Development Team, providing direction, prioritization,
    feedback, and guidance as needed

 

We are looking for a dedicated, driven Development professional
with proven ability to strategically plan, manage multiple
simultaneous projects, and work effectively as part of a
high-performing leadership team. You should excel at building
meaningful relationships across multiple stakeholders, including
partner organizations, foundations, local and national
philanthropic communities, and POP’s Board of Directors. In
addition, we require the following skills/abilities: 

  • 5 or more years of experience building effective systems for
    donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and
    special fundraising events planning
  • A Bachelors degree in Non-Profit Management, Business
    Administration, or related field (Masters preferred)
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills that
    resonate across a diverse range of audience
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, off-hours, and travel
    locally as needed
  • Experience managing multiple projects and the ability to
    supervise and motivate staff, consultants, and volunteers
  • Experience in building and optimizing donor databases and
    fundraising software (familiarity with DonorPerfect is a plus) and
    proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 Suite

This position offers a base salary of up to $110,000 (based on
experience). We offer a generous benefits package including paid
time off and holidays, a simple IRA retirement plan with 3%
matching contribution, group medical insurance, and contributory
dental, disability, and life insurance coverages.
