The Joint Office of the European Savings and Retail Banking Group and the World Savings and Retail Banking Institute wishes to recruit for their office in Brussels a (m/f/d) Advisor for the Americas and the Caribbean Region.
The Advisor holds a crucial position in the region, actively participating in the formation of a robust and influential Regional Savings Banks Group.
Key responsibilities include expanding the membership base, fostering strong relationships among WSBI members in the Americas and Caribbean region, and promoting connections with other regions.
The advisor will also advocate for the institutional position of regional members and highlight their active social and economic contributions as Savings Banks.
This role requires a high level of autonomy, attention to detail, and the ability to take initiative, be creative, and adapt to ensure successful outcomes.
Tasks
- Maintain regular and transparent communication with members to gather input on their long-term needs, suggestions, demands;
- Provide member services, including organizing knowledge-sharing events;
- Stay updated on major developments in the financial sector and banking scene concerning the Americas and Caribbean;
- Monitor the evolution of the Americas and Caribbean financial sector through available media (internet, specialized press, and other channels) in a long-term and historical perspective;
- Manage and coordinate logistical aspects for organizing annual meetings for Regional Group members, in collaboration with host country members and upon request from the Joint Office;
- Collaborate in preparing discussion points for Congresses, Coordination Committee, President Committee, Board of Directors, General Assembly, and other Ad Hoc meetings;
- Prepare presentations, speeches, minutes, or reports related to the mentioned meetings as needed;
- Organize international business cooperation missions for American members to Europe as requested;
- Increase WSBI membership in the Americas and Caribbean¸ Identify business opportunities related to the region’s financial and banking system and share information with potentially interested members;
- Collaborate with WSBI IIR team peers to create knowledge-sharing opportunities and events for members across all regions;
- Assist the Managing Director in organizing WSBI-ESBG meetings and activities;
- Provide support to the Managing Director in communication, including translations from and into Spanish if required;
- Contribute to WSBI newsletters, newspapers, website, and other communication materials.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
Education:
- He/she/D must have a University degree in Economics, Law, international relations or similar.
Experience:
- A proven experience of at least 2 years in an international and/or financial member-based organization would be appreciated;
- Good knowledge of the Americas and the Caribbean region is essential;
- In principle no specific experience in banking is required but it is desirable to have some background knowledge of banking related topics and more specifically of the regions concerned;
- Experience in public relations, event organization and/or communications would be an advantage.
Languages:
- Native level of English and Spanish is a must, both spoken and written;
- Fluent French and/or Portuguese would be an additional asset.
Skills:
- Both analytical and synthetical capacity. Team player;
- Negotiating and sales capacity will be an advantage;
- Open-minded, flexible, pro-active and strong personality;
- Convinced of the message he/she/d should transmit;
- Enthusiast in promoting key issues and proposing new initiatives;
- Diplomatic attitude to harmonise interests and minimise conflictual situations;

- Empathy with the views and interests of members of Savings Banks;
- A positive attitude towards development of other nations and interest and respect for cultures different from his own.
IT skills:
- Full domain of Office Suite;
- Good knowledge of CRM software is desirable.
