Position Summary

The Knight Campus Custodial Services Manager (CSM) is responsible for custodial operations, supervision of the custodial staff, and overseeing and executing facilities-related projects and services. The CSM will collaborate with the Knight Campus Events Manager and execute event setup requests, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations as they relate to infrastructure and facilities within custodial day-to-day duties. This position coordinates staff and resources of manual, unskilled, semiskilled custodial workers in the maintenance/repair of cleaning equipment, and physical cleaning of the Knight Campus internal spaces. The Knight Campus Custodial Services Manager will report to the Knight Campus Director of Facilities and Building System Services.

This position assists the Director of Facilities and Building System Services through the evaluation of customer service and work requests with an emphasis on the potential impact on Knight Campus occupant’s well-being and safety. As such this position will require a need to balance customer service and prioritize requests based on urgency. This position makes decisions on work priorities, distribution of work, quality of service, supply and equipment needs, necessary cosmetic repairs, and repair routing. The position offers insight and recommendations about issues that materially impact facilities to their manager.

The Custodial Services Manager is responsible for the set-up/takedown process for events that may include: student career programming, conferences, recruiting events, celebrations, and other internal/external events as needed. This position manages the building art inventory, which includes the placement and physical installation of art exhibits and supports signature art exhibitions. This position requires a skilled laborer with abilities to directly perform minor construction projects and repairs (e.g. installation of shelves, handling art, furniture repairs, wall patching, and painting). The Custodial Services Manager also coordinates office moves and is responsible for furniture inventory.

The Knight Campus Custodial Services Manager must be familiar with safety awareness materials and follow respectful workplace guidelines in support of the Knight Campus Mission.

Typical work schedule will likely be Monday-Friday from 8:00am-5:00pm with limited supervision. Work may be performed outside of this schedule on an as-needed basis. This position will occasionally work in inclement weather conditions and may perform work outside, on rooftops, and in loud environments.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree OR 3+ years of professional work experience in a construction trade, facilities, maintenance, or industrial-related operational support
AND
• 3+ years of progressive experience in facilities operations in industrial, commercial, or educational environments
• 1+ years of experience in managing and supervising employees

• Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate and work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree in plant or facility management, business/public administration, or a related field
• Professional experience with the installation and maintenance of major equipment
• Professional experience working in and around complicated facility safety regulations and protocols
• Professional experience with financial and administrative policies, rules and procedures
• Demonstrated knowledge of standard building and security practices and knowledge of hazards and safety precautions and procedures. Experience and/or documented certifications and training in Fire/Life Safety systems, HVAC, mechanical systems, electrical, and plumbing/pneumatic controls, and standard building trades.
• Professional work experience in project management
