The NAIT Department of
Athletics & Recreation invites applicants for the full-time position of
Men’s Basketball Head Coach. This is a year-to-year employment contract ending on or
before March 31, 2025, with the possibility of extension.
NAIT’s intercollegiate
teams have established a rich tradition of student-athlete success that ranks
NAIT as among the finest intercollegiate programs both in the Alberta
Conference (ACAC) and in Canada (CCAA). Because of this, we are confident that
NAIT student-athletes develop life skills of teamwork, commitment, discipline,
and time-management that are valued throughout their careers.
Key
Accountabilities:
- Recruiting – Maintain an active, focused recruiting
plan to attract and retain promising and potential student-athlete - Training – Plan, develop, select, and revise training
material to maximize athletic and team performance - Competitions – Support and be responsible for
student-athletes at competitions locally, provincially and nationally - Feedback – Analyze performance to give feedback to the
student-athlete regularly to achieve peak performance - Team Selection – Leading the selection of promising
and potential student-athletes within their specific sports program - Eligibility – Ensure student-athletes meet ACAC and
CCAA eligibility requirements and complete all student athlete forms. - Scholarships – Complete scholarship tracking sheet and
administer scholarship offer letters - Support Staff Hiring – Select, hire, and train all
program required support staff (assistant coaches, equipment manager) - Admission – Assist student-athletes in the admission
process - Academic Checks – Review student-athletes’ academic
progress and provide direction to obtain support if needed. - Budget – Oversee and adhere to program budget and work
with Director to coordinate changes. - Fundraising – Coordinate and executed fundraising
initiatives (Summer Camps, golf tournament, other) - Equipment/Apparel – Inventory of program’s
equipment/uniforms and the selection/ordering of player gear. - Social Media – Manage team social media accounts
(Twitter/Instagram) - Sports Information Requirements – Conduct interviews,
submit recaps, and fulfill all other sports information requests. - Community Service – Develop team community service
initiatives and execute department promotions and events.

Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Coaching experience at the College, University,
Junior, Provincial, National, or Professional level. - Professional or post-secondary player participation
may be considered in lieu of post-secondary coaching experience. - The incumbent must hold a valid driver’s
license. - The incumbent must hold, at minimum, an NCCP
High Performance or equivalent coaching certification. - Physical stamina to participate in training
programs and practices is recommended.
Remuneration: One-year
employment contract ranging from $54,600 – $70,200 depending on experience and
qualifications.
