Trail Crew Lead 

Maine Trail Builders is hiring a Full-Time Seasonal Trail Crew Lead. Get paid to travel to awesome places throughout New England and build trails! 

We specialize in Machine built mountain bike flow trails and enduro trails, mountain bike optimized multi-use cross-country singletrack and bike skills parks. 

The preferred applicant:

  • Has at least 7 years (seasons) of full-time experience as a trail builder and excavator operator. 
  • Utilizes trail building best practices to protect critical root systems and minimize erosion
  • Is an expert at shaping dirt features and rock work with an excavator 
  • Has a keen eye for trail flow and drainage
  • Has professional carpentry experience 
  • Is an advanced- expert level mountain biker
  • Has a high level of professionalism
  • Has management experience 
  • Has Wilderness First Responder or comparable medical training 
  • Has a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle

Scope of work will include but is not limited to: Manage daily operations and routine equipment maintenance, conduct trainings and daily safety meetings. Lead machine and hand built trail construction including: trail layout, bench cuts, bridge construction, build rock features, shape berms, rollers, jumps and drainage. Interface with clients and volunteers. Ensure all equipment is cleaned appropriately prior to changing build locations to mitigate the spread of invasive weeds.

Season of employment: 

  • April – November 
  • Tuesday- Friday 
  • 8am- 6pm.
