ABOUT EUROPEX

Europex is a Brussels-based not-for-profit association of European energy exchanges and delegated operators with currently 33 members. It represents the interests of exchange-based wholesale electricity, gas and environmental markets, focuses on developments of the European regulatory framework for wholesale energy trading and provides a discussion platform at European level. OVERVIEW

The successful candidate will work on a full-time basis in the Europex Secretariat in Brussels. She/he will directly report to the Secretary General and mainly support the Gas Markets Working Group of the Association.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

  • Providing support to the Gas Markets Working Group in close coordination with the Head of the Working Group;
  • Monitoring and reporting on EU policy developments on relevant files and key topics (i.e., implementation of the gas decarbonisation & hydrogen package, development of hydrogen and other renewable gases, guarantees of origin, AggregateEU, network codes & guidelines, etc.);
  • Coordinating and assisting advocacy efforts towards the European institutions, ACER, relevant ministries and national regulatory authorities, etc.;
  • Drafting of position papers, consultation responses, presentations, speaking points;
  • Planning and execution of external policy events;
  • Supporting internal events, including Board and General Assembly meetings;
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with EU institutional actors and the other relevant associations and stakeholders; and
  • Attendance of policy events, technical workshops, conferences and other events.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Completed higher education in a relevant field (energy, economics, European studies, political science, law, etc.);
  • Previous work experience of at least 3-5 years in EU affairs, preferably with knowledge of natural and/or renewable gas wholesale markets;
  • Advanced knowledge of the functioning of the European institutions;
  • Strong drafting skills and an excellent command of English. Other languages are a plus;
  • Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with a variety of external stakeholders;
  • Ability to adjust technical content to different target groups;
  • Independent work style and attention to detail;
  • Ability to work in a multinational and multicultural professional environment;
  • Advanced end user IT skills.
