The Georgia Health Policy Center at Georgia State University is seeking to hire a Finance Assistant (Temp). The Finance Assistant (Temp) is a temporary position providing financial monitoring and accounting support to the Community Health System Development and Health Equity Program teams.
The Georgia Health Policy Center (GHPC), established in 1995, integrates research, policy, and programs to advance health and well-being. The center conducts, analyzes and disseminates qualitative and quantitative findings to connect decision makers with the objective research and guidance needed to make informed decisions about health policy and programs. Today the center is at work in more than 220 communities in all 50 states, helping our nation to improve health status. In 2017, the GHPC added a global portfolio, including work in Nigeria, Sudan, and Ireland.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:
This position provides financial monitoring and accounting support to the Community Health System Development and Health Equity Program teams for the Georgia Health Policy Center.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Maintains financial records including programmatic expenditures.
- Provides analysis of financial spending to forecast program needs.
- Reviews vendor and contractor invoices for appropriate supporting documentation.
- Processes vendor and subcontractor payments.
- Assists with routing of service provider agreements and subcontracts through university signature channels.
- Process purchase orders upon completion.
- Tracks and documents account expenditures on internal spreadsheet.
- Offer budget management expertise to community-based subcontractors.
- Provide general financial support, as needed, to HPC Finance team members.
Qualifications
:
QUALIFICATIONS YOU NEED:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 2 years of financial, accounting or auditing experience; or a combination of education and experience.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES TO MAKE YOU SHINE:
The ideal candidate should be able to juggle multiple projects in a fast‐paced, team‐focused environment. Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required. Strong Accounting principles and financial monitoring background.
- Strong attention to detail and report reconciliation
- Excellent organizational skills
- Effective time management skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Prior experience in university setting or academic environment (research administration) preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with GSU accounting, contracting processes and platforms preferred.
