About this position

The Environmental and Social Solutions Unit (ESG) is responsible for the assessment and management of Environmental and Social (E&S) impacts and risks, and the application of IDB E&S policies in Bank operations. ESG also develops and disseminates knowledge to enhance the management of impacts and risks in such a way as to benefit clients and partners and to champion sustainable development in the region.

We are looking for a specialist to lead the innovation and technology group within ESG focusing on the development and implementation of the ESG operational project management system (ESG Compass), enhancing the GIS platform, developing key dashboards for the unit, and pushing forward the innovation agenda for the unit.

We are looking for a dynamic operation specialist who will help us change people lives in Latin America and the Caribbean working on enhancing the management of environmental and social impacts and risks in a way that will benefit clients, partners and beneficiaries and foster sustainable development in the region. The operation specialist will focus on innovation and technology, process improvement, business analytics, environmental and social preparation and supervision support.

 

 

What you’ll do:

  • Serve as a focal point for all information management unit matters including channeling of specific requests, dissemination of new corporate initiatives, training and supporting ESG team members in learning and managing new digital tools and systems.
  • Serve as the interface between ITE and ESG ensuring that ESG business needs are understood and aligned with the Bank’s ITE strategy.
  • Lead the preparation of the ESG report summarizing the work that ESG does in operations and capacity building.
  • Plan and coordinate the activities required to continue the development and implementation of the ESG operational project management system “Compass” that includes coordination with internal ESG users, IDB Information Technology department, and other key stakeholders.
  • Support the integration of ESG’s information management system “Compass”, track and data management into the Bank’s systems and databases.
  • Negotiate project budgets and timing with the third parties.
  • Foster a data-driven unit by using business analytics to support informed decision making, including leading the design and implementation of dashboards.
  • Collaborate and support in the interpretation of data, trends and results analyses using statistical techniques.
  • Support the database management of the quality assurance function internal to ESG.
  • Contribute to the automation of a tracking function of operational and corporate activities such as preparation and supervision missions, compliance with supervision reports completion timing requirements, administrative transactions’ tracking, among other.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and constant innovation of current (and future) ESG and IDB digital tools (Convergence modules, ESG Compass project management system, Cartera inteligente, ESG section in corporate dashboard, GIS tools, among other).
  • Develop and implement the GIS strategy for ESG ensuring ESG Specialist and clients have access to relevant environmental and social information.
  • Lead the artificial intelligence initiative in ESG in collaboration with the relevant entities of the Bank.
  • Support the Digital Transformation Program of the Bank and update and maintain the VPS/ESG intranet.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports on ESG data upon request of the different ESG groups.

What you’ll need

  • Education: Master’s degree or equivalent in areas related to information technology, data science, business analytics, project management, environmental management, environmental engineering, environmental sciences and Occupational Health and Safety or related fields.
  • Experience: You have 7 years working experience and expertise as project manager, including business process improvement, data analytics, data visualization, communications, and operation management ideally with experience working with multilateral development banks. Environmental and social knowledge to support business digital systems. Expert level user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint). Experience in design and delivery of capacity building on technical topics.
  • Languages: Oral and written proficiency in English and Spanish required; Fluency in Portuguese and/or French is desirable.

Requirements

  • Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents.

Type of contract and duration

  • International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
