The IFC is seeking an Operations Analyst for its Western Europe Department (CWE), based in London, United Kingdom, to support CWE’s mission.
Towards furthering IFC’s development agenda, Western Europe Department is responsible for our relationship with the governments, partner development finance institutions (DFI), and the corporate and financial sector in 27 European countries for investments into emerging markets, as well as with the European Union.

The Operations Analyst supports CWE, and in particular, the Relationship Manager for the sub-region consisting of the Netherlands, Italy, Portugal, Greece, Cyprus, Malta, Slovakia, Hungary and Czechia, where (s)he reports into.

The Operations Analyst will be assigned a variety of tasks related to country management, business development, relationship management with key clients and partners, and coordination of relationships with IFC stakeholders, including shareholders, development partner agencies, DFIs, and private sector players.
This role requires interaction with various external parties in Western Europe as well as with other departments at IFC’s headquarters in Washington DC and across the globe. It offers exposure to the interplay of public and private sector parties in the global development finance arena.

 

Duties and Accountabilities:

• Assist the Country Manager in (a) developing/updating, implementing, and reporting on country strategies; (b) monitoring of and delivering on KPIs; (c) relationship management with governments, DFIs, corporate clients, and other stakeholders and organizations; and (iv) IFC’s business development efforts in the sub-region and for Financial Institutions Group across CWE. 
• Monitor and report on political and economic developments that are relevant for business development and relationship management with key stakeholders.
• Conduct industry and market research by extracting information from internal databases and external sources. 
• Maintain a pipeline of projects with sponsors and prepare mapping of potential clients across industries and partners for IFC, including coordination with country and industry-specific business development and outreach strategies.
• Perform desktop reviews of potential prospective clients, including background checks and preliminary financial analysis.
• Prepare relevant strategy papers, briefs, working papers, presentations, reporting and promotional material for internal and external users, including pitch books and other marketing presentations and material.
• Contribute to preparations for IFC key events and partner meetings, such as the Spring and Annual WBG meetings. 
• Assist in organizing business development webinars, roundtables, and conferences.
• Support meetings with companies, high-level government counterparts, DFIs and other stakeholders, and in follow-ups by preparing briefing material; writing meeting notes; drafting correspondence and assisting in implementing of action points. 
• Maintain/update databases, pipeline- and other reports, as well as other trackers in excel and internal systems; prepare progress reports and other documentation required.
• Contribute to developing strategic engagement, communications, and outreach programs to foster and maintain IFC’s relationship with key government counterparts, constituencies, opinion-makers, and media.
• Assist in preparation and execution of IFC Senior Management visits.
• Provide any other assistance needed by the Country Manager for the day-to-day coordination of activities.
• Perform such other duties as may be required from time to time to meet emerging corporate requirements at CWE.

 

Selection Criteria

• Bachelor’s or equivalent degree with a specialization in International Development/Affairs/Politics/Relations, Finance, Economics or Business Administration. 
• 2-3 years’ professional working experience (internships may be included) in a multicultural environment in business consulting at a financial institution, development bank, consulting firm, or in another fast-paced, knowledge-based work environment. 
• Track record of qualitative and quantitative research and analyses.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and sound business judgment to identify issues and present creative and practical solutions. 
• Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to work without close supervision.
• Keen interest in development finance and working in multicultural environments. 
• Strong client service orientation with an openness to feedback and new ideas.
• Eager to take on new challenges. Ability to thrive under pressure and function effectively in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines, while working on multiple projects.
• Strong attention to detail and quality. High level of accuracy and responsiveness. 
• Excellent teamwork skills, ability to take the initiative and work across organizational boundaries. Recognized as a team player, ability to take the initiative, to effectively build consensus, and to collaborate in a multicultural environment. Experience at a multinational organization.
• High on energy with strong professionalism/ maintaining confidentiality and using discretion. 
• Excellent interpersonal, presentation and social skills. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in English (orally and in writing) and to work effectively with colleagues and counterparts from diverse backgrounds, age groups, etc.
• Advanced Excel, PowerPoint and database skills. 
• Fluency in English with outstanding English drafting skills. Proficiency in another European language, in particular French, Italian or Spanish, is an advantage.
