Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume): 
Bachelor’s Degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in bioscience or a related field. Two (2) years of full-time research and/or data analysis experience. Experience in operating equipment, carrying out test procedures and/or using special methods for data collection and interpretation.
Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in bioscience or a related field. Two (2) years of full-time microbiology research and/or data analysis experience (e.g., Microsoft Office, Endnote, various statistical analyses, and GraphPad Prism). Experience with small animal procedural and infectious disease (for example, inoculations and injections, blood draws, euthanasia, cardiac bleeds, animal dissection, etc.). Experience with basic mammalian cell culture and/or biological assay skills (e.g., protein purification, ELISA, PCR, CFU, and plaque assays). Experience working under Biosafety Level 3 (BSL3) conditions. Experience with scientific literature searches.
Brief Description of Duties: 

The Senior Research Support Specialist will provide a broad range of complex laboratory and research related tasks. Working under general supervision in support of a research project or programs for the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, incumbent will operate equipment, carry out test procedures as well as collate and interpret data using special methods.   
The successful incumbent will have excellent interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational and time-management skills with an exceptional attention to detail. Essential for this role is the adeptness to work independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving.
Duties:

  • Conduct experiments; provide research support by conducting tests using specialized methods for data collection; interpret the collected data.
  • Observe, collect and analyze data and write summary reports as needed.  Assist with grant writing entering references and other tasks related to grants.
  • Work collaboratively with other employees, faculty and professionals to advance the goals of the project.
  • Develop, monitor, coordinate and manage activities to maintain effective operation of the program.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
