Position Summary
The Cruchaga Lab, the NeuroGenomics and Informatics Center, at Washington University School of Medicine is recruiting a Research Coordinator (RC). We are seeking an experienced, self-motivated, self-driven person to work as a part of a vibrant group in a fast-paced environment. This person will work in a collegial environment and join a multidisciplinary, diverse team in a well-established, well-funded research group, currently 30+ dynamic members, to explore the frontiers of neurodegenerative diseases. The NGI generates and analyzes genetic and high-throughput multi-tissue omic data to study neurodegenerative diseases of the central nervous system. The goal of our research is to use genomic and multi-omic approaches to understand the biology of neurodegenerative diseases.
We are seeking a meticulous and organized RC to join our team. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), this person will be responsible for the organization, compliance, data collection for multiple basic to moderately complex projects. The RC will be responsible for operational leadership, planning, reporting for multiple projects. This person will function as a liaison between the lab and several clinic sites (local, domestic U.S. & international), as well as the school, and collaborators. The RC will play a key role in coordinating and managing data collection activities, collaborating with research teams, generating progress reports, and contributing to the successful execution of various research initiatives.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage research projects.
  • Develop, review, comprehend, and implement all phases of study/protocol; work with the PI and collaborators to implement the study protocol.
  • Monitor data collection progress, identify any issues or challenges, and implement corrective actions as needed. Conducts quality checks to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain data records and manage data storage and confidentiality.
  • Provides planning and coordination of meetings and schedules various events and/or training.
  • Prepares and maintain minutes from meetings, formal voting procedures, and committee activity related to proposals, ensuring follow up on decisions made.
  • Participates in project review meetings and report preparation and analysis.
  • Provides budgetary management to the program.
  • Assists PI in the development of materials and tools necessary to appropriately train individuals involved in the conduct of the study. Maintains documents of training.
  • Assists PI in preparing budgets and justifications by confirming the accuracy and completeness of budgeted costs.
  • Collaborates with PI to prepare IRB/HRPO and other regulatory submission documents as required by the protocol.
  • Prepares other study materials as requested, including but not limited to, the informed consent, enrollment logs, training materials, and sample collection documents.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of techniques and methodologies used in developing, coordinating, and managing research projects.
  • Knowledge of database management, spreadsheet, and statistical analysis software.
  • Exposure to FileMaker Pro and/or Freezerwork is a plus.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Combination of college education and relevant experience equaling four years may substitute for this requirement.
  • Required Licensure/Certification/Registration: Basic Life Support certification (Online Basic Life Support certifications, those without a skills assessment component are not sufficient to meet the Basic Life Support requirements). Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within one month of hire date.

Salary Range
$46,400.00 – $69,700.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one’s qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
