At Orange sky we are on a mission to Positively Connect Communities and we do this by providing the world’s-first free mobile laundry and shower service to people experiencing homelessness. The Role
As the Team Leader at Orange Sky Australia (OS), you’ll oversee a team of Regional Coordinators (4), serving as their primary point of contact for designated regions or programs.
Collaborating with the Senior Impact Manager and Regional Coordinators, you’ll drive strategic initiatives for performance optimisation, volunteer engagement and service expansion, ensuring our continued impact within the community.
In a nutshell, this role is responsible for:
- Implement strategies to improve and expand services, with a focus on building service efficiency and volunteer leader attraction performance, and retention.
- Act as an escalation point for all required incidents by providing support and advice to the Regional Coordinators to achieve favourable outcomes for OS brand, operations, volunteer and friend safety and satisfaction.
- Proactively respond to volunteer leader or service provider questions, complaints and improvement recommendations.
- Lead a team of Regional Coordinators to support in the delivery of all strategic & operational objectives.
- Manage the risk assessments of service locations and support in the ongoing risk management of all shift locations.
- Enhance OSA’s safety culture through managing and implementing improvements to incident management and risk assessment processes.
- Analyse the efficiency & effectiveness of Orange Sky services and identify key areas of improvement for execution and implementation.
- Embed and champion differentiated service offerings to implement into the core services.
- Develop and maintain operating systems and procedures to support the effective delivery of programs and services and update as required.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the Regional Coordinator team members including performance, engagement and professional development to ensure they are “Better for being Orange”.
- Work in a Service Support capacity (weekends and public holidays on a roster) to address service delivery needs across Australia.

We’re looking for someone with experience in a similar role within a fast-paced organisation, ideally within the not-for-profit sector and working with a large volunteer base.

Additionally, the ideal applicant has:
- Demonstrated leadership, operations support and team management skills
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Community Services or a related field, coupled with extensive experience in similar roles within relevant organisations.
- Proficiency in enhancing processes through proactive and growth-orientated mindset
- Skilled in adeptly navigating challenging conversations with tact and diplomacy to achieve constructive outcomes
- Outstanding interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate with a highly diverse range of people and manage a large and diverse workforce
- Proven leadership track record underscored by a foundational commitment to continuous improvement.
- Well-developed written skills and problem-solving ability
- Ability to travel and work flexibly as required
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to manage complex and competing demands and meet deadlines
- Ability to work both independently, and within a team
- Proactive attitude, and a genuine passion for our cause.
