The role is in the Community Capacity and Partnerships Team in Kingston’s Inclusive Communities department, who works with the Kingston community to support their goals with facilities, financial support, fostering partnerships, accessing services and support, and facilitating volunteering opportunities.

The role

We are seeking a Community Leadership and Capacity Officer to join the Community Capacity and Partnerships team. Reporting to the Coordinator Community Capacity, your role is to:

  • Support Council decision-making for our Community Awards, including ‘Community Group of the Year’ and ‘Citizen of the Year’ categories; and prepare nominations to open for 2025.
  • Work with our Events Team and support nominees of the Community Awards at our Volunteer Development event on 21 May 2024.
  • Develop a Community Leadership Program, including recruiting applicants, contract management to deliver leadership training, and supporting graduates with the delivery of projects that give back to the Kingston community.
  • Reviewing the 2024 Kingston Women of the Year awards program and preparing and opening nominations for 2025.

A motivated self-starter with excellent networking skills and strong skills in working with diverse communities will thrive in this role.

About you

We are looking for someone with:

  • A degree in community development or similar qualifications
  • A minimum 5 years work experience in community development or a similar field
  • Expertise in community engagement and demonstrated experience in working with diverse communities
  • Excellent monitoring and reporting skills and experience in contract management

This is a full-time fixed term position to 31 October 2024. Job share for suitably qualified and experienced applicants will be considered.

The salary for this position starts at $93,076.47 (Band 6) per annum plus superannuation.
