Administration Director Job Description
(Full time salary/37.5 hours week)

Goose Creek Association is a growing grass roots conservation and environmental nonprofit that is dedicated to protecting and preserving the health and habitat of Goose Creek, one of Virginia’s designated State Scenic Rivers, in Loudoun and Fauquier Counties. In addition to robust volunteer programs, we work closely with other environmental groups to educate and advocate protection of this critical natural resource.

As part of our growth plan, GCA is looking to employ a dedicated Administrative Director. You will work closely with GCA leadership, as well as a bookkeeper, a River Steward (part time river monitor/trainer) and member volunteers. You will have a hands-on role across our core initiatives, working closely with other conservation and environmental organizations in activities including stream monitoring, riparian buffer plantings, river clean-up and educational programs. 

Full-Time Administration Director’s duties include:

  • Administer and oversee financial, banking and development operations using Little Green Light and QuickBooks software
  • Draft and finalize all publications, including Annual Report, Mid-Year Report, information emails to members, publicity and news releases for events
  • Manage grant applications and reports
  • With Board input and coordination, manage events, including annual spring party, winter environmental forum and annual meeting with Board input
  • Manage zoom and in person meetings of the Board of Directors, draft agenda and minutes
  • Supervise and manage River Steward and interns
  • Outreach, education, and communication with members and the public, including our MWEE (Meaningful Watershed Environmental Education) program with Board, volunteers and local schools
  • Attend community events and festivals for GCA outreach program

Administration a Director Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree with significant office experience
  • Self-starter with initiative, competence and ability to work independently
  • Passion for environmental protection and conservation
  • Google Suite/Microsoft Word/Excel/Quickbooks proficient; Little Green Light capability(or ability to learn)
  • Competency in multiple social media platforms
  • Must be willing to work an occasional Saturday or Sunday
  • Must have valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work well with others, including Board of Directors, and manage workers and volunteers
  • Ability to work remotely at times
  • Residence in or near Loudoun or Fauquier Counties

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Natural resource and/or non-profit experience
  • Familiarity with land-use Best Management Practices and cost share programs
  • Experience with coordination of projects and event planning
  • Management experience

Salary range of $50,000+, depending on experience, including two weeks paid vacation plus federal holidays, health care subsidy, and 2% retirement contribution.
