Peace Winds Japan (PWJ) is a non-governmental organization dedicated to the support of people in distress, threatened by conflict, poverty, or other turmoil. PWJ Iraq has been working in the Kurdish Region since 1996 on various projects partnering with local government, UN agencies and other NGOs. Currently, PWJ has been operating projects for internally displaced persons and Syrian refugees in KRG supported by UN agencies, Japan Platform and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration of US.
Duty station location: Mosul District, Iraq
Direct supervision: Program Coordinator/Surveyor
Duration: 6 months (earliest starting from March 15, 2024)
This position is specifically or the vocational training component under the “Japan Village Project – Emergency Support to Returnees in Northern Part of Iraq towards Durable Solutions, including Adaptation to Climate Change” implemented by PWJ, funded by UN-Habitat. The job requirs working in Rajm Hadeed neighborhood in Mosul’s eastern region and its surrounding areas in Mosul district.
Field Monitor is responsible for the most of the field-level activities under supervision of Program Coordinator and Surveyor, including stakeholder communication, assessments and researches, beneficiary registration, training management, data-collection and monitoring.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
• During assessment, s/he should be able to monitor, focused and well-structured discussions with the beneficiaries, and ensure that all field-data is collected in a timely and efficient manner while emphasizing accuracy.
• During training and public outreach management and monitoring, s/he shall ensure all the activities are according to the plan, all project outcomes to be achieved, and identify areas of any furthre improvement. S/he should ensure that activities are carried out according to humanitrian policies and ethics, and the correct procedures are followed throughout the time of project. Any issues and concern in the project needed to be reported timely to the supervisor.
• During training management and monitoring, s/he should make sure small purchase such as stationaries, transportation for beneficiaries, snack/means for beneficiaries etc. according to the PWJ procurement policies.
• As supervising teams will be located in Duhok, he/she need to perform field assignments independently.
• Carrying out other duties as directed, in accordance with programme requirement.
• University Degree
• Minimum 3 years of full-time working in Humanitarian Organization (UN/ NGOs)
• Minimum 1 year of working in livelihood projects/activities in Mosul -district
• Good level of verbal communication, reading, reporting utilizing English language
• Fluent in both Kurdish and Arabic.
• Good Computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power point). Experience with mobile data collections tools like Kobo would be plus.
• Strong interpersonal skills; courtesy, consideration and ability to work effectively with people of different national and cultural background.
• Good physical condition to meet the job’s demands.
• Willingness to adhere to and carry out Peace Winds Japan rules.
• Well understanding of sensitivity of the areas.
