Job Title: Livelihood Officer
Type of Employment: Full-time
Work Location: Mosul – Nineveh
Reports to: Project Manager in Mosul
Responsible for: Livelihood activities in Mosul
Job Summary:
The main responsibility of the Activity Officer is to assist the Project Manager in planning and to be responsible for implementing and executing daily activity tasks, ensuring that activities are carried out according to the set timelines, quality standards, and budget. The officer will also coordinate with relevant stakeholders, provide regular updates, and support the monitoring and evaluation of activities to ensure effective project outcomes.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Activity Planning and Coordination:
• Assist the Project Manager in developing plans and timelines for activities, ensuring alignment with objectives.
• Coordinate tasks with the project team and ensure smooth implementation.
• Schedule meetings and ensure clear communication with stakeholders.
• Keep activity plans on track, meeting deadlines and ensuring team alignment.
Implementation and Execution:
• Support the Project Manager in overseeing daily activity execution, adhering to schedules and budgets.
• Ensure activities align with the project plan and organizational guidelines.
• Help ensure compliance with donor requirements.
Documentation and Reporting:
• Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports to the Project Manager.
• Provide necessary information for interim and final reports.
• Maintain organized records of all activity documents.
Stakeholder Coordination:
• Coordinate information sessions and consultations with stakeholders.
• Support the Project Manager in meetings, ensuring effective communication with partners and beneficiaries.
• Ensure stakeholder engagement aligns with project goals and timelines.
Budget Management:
• Assist the Project Manager in managing the activity budget and ensuring financial discipline.
• Monitor financial activities and report discrepancies.
• Support the preparation for financial audits and assist in reviewing the financial reports related to activity expenditure.
Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL):
• Coordinate with the MEAL Officer on activity monitoring and evaluation.
• Assist in gathering accurate data
Coordination with Livelihood Expert:
• Collaborate with the Livelihood Expert to implement strategies and identify training needs.
• Organize and facilitate training sessions and assist in creating materials.
• Monitor the effectiveness of training and ensure practical skills application.
Quality Control:
• Ensure activities meet quality standards and align with objectives.
• Assist in ensuring compliance with policies and best practices.
• Conduct regular quality checks on activity implementation.
General Responsibilities:
• Maintain a proactive, positive attitude toward tasks and challenges.
• Support smooth activity implementation and team coordination.
• Serve as a liaison between the project team, beneficiaries, and the Project Manager.
• Identify and address issues in activity execution, collaborating with the Project Manager to find solutions.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
Qualifications:
Educational Background:
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Social Sciences, Engineering Studies, or any related discipline.
Experience:
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in project coordination or implementation, particularly in livelihoods or humanitarians.
Field Experience:
• Experience working in field environments, preferably in Mosul or similar contexts, with a strong understanding of local dynamics.
Facilitation Skills:
• Strong ability to facilitate training sessions and workshops, ensuring effective knowledge transfer and engagement.
Communication Skills:
• Proficiency in Arabic (written and spoken) is required. Advanced English language skills are preferred, especially for reporting and communication.
Teamwork and Collaboration:
• Proven ability to work effectively with diverse teams, partners, and beneficiaries in a collaborative environment.
Cultural Sensitivity:
• Deep understanding of the local culture, customs, and social norms to ensure respectful and effective interaction with beneficiaries and stakeholders.
Time Management and Organizational Skills:
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Problem-Solving Abilities:
• Strong analytical skills and the capacity to identify challenges and develop practical, timely solutions.
Additional Requirements:
Residency Preference:
• Preference will be given to candidates residing in Mosul and shall be taken in consideration the other CVs of those who live in the other regions.
Non-Government Employee:
• The applicants must not be current government employees.
