The Center for Advanced Visualization and Interaction (CAVI) at the Department of Digital Design and Information Studies, School of Communication and Culture, Aarhus University, is seeking 1-2 student programmers to participate in software development and maintenance on various research projects from both the Department of Digital Design & Information Studies and the Department of Computer Science at Aarhus University.
These are part-time positions for 14 hours weekly. You can largely determine the placement of work hours during the week.
The position begins on 01 April 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter. The contract is for one year with the possibility of an extension.
All interested candidates are encouraged to apply, regardless of their personal background.
CAVI is involved in projects that include large-scale interactive installations such as augmented and virtual reality systems; real-time collaborative web-based systems; data visualization, 3D soundscapes, projection mapping and more. This means that the programming tasks at CAVI are very diverse in terms of both application domains and technologies.
You must have interest and knowledge in at least three of these programming areas:
Basic familiarity with open-source development or team tools like Git, Subversion, Maven, Jenkins, Redmine, Zoom/Teams/Slack/Discord, etc., is an advantage but not a requirement.
You will be part of CAVI’s in-house development team, which consists of an engineer, a graphics artist, a project lead, and a software developer. Depending on the nature of the research projects you work on, you will either collaborate with some or all of the individuals from CAVI, and you will communicate directly with researchers regarding their projects.
The work will be supervised by CAVI software developer Janus Bager Kristensen.
The place of employment is CAVI, Aabogade 34D, 8200 Aarhus N.
The application should include a short presentation of background and skills and a CV.
