The Assistant Director of Finance is responsible for managing the financial planning of a five-year time horizon that supports of the college’s strategic plan. Reporting to the chief financial officer, the incumbent has broad responsibility and discretion in developing and managing long-term financial plans that consider all sources of funds and expenses. Applies experience in and understanding of clinical care delivery to financial planning activities. Actively participates as a member of the college’s senior management team, serves as an integration point for strategic planning, and maintains a forward-looking perspective to balance current operational and financial performance. More About This Role Strategic Planning Prepares the organization for long-term planning by cultivating consensus on the purpose, structure, and results of the planning process. Analyzes the current and emerging financial environment, revenue and expenditure forecasts, debt position and affordability, recommends strategies for achieving and maintaining balance, and develops monitoring mechanisms. Aligns resources across the college, formulates a strategy for involving key stakeholders, and creates project plans to serve as a roadmap to execute the strategic plan. Maintains a forum for recognizing and developing the explicit purpose and scope of planning efforts. Financial Analysis Produces actionable information that supports planning and strategizing. Develops projections and financial analyses that inform long-term planning. Gathers information to inform an understanding of environmental factors and improve forecasting and strategizing to project long-term revenue, expenditures, and debt trends. Identifies potential challenges to fiscal stability and develops scenario analyses to evaluate optimistic, base, and pessimistic possibilities. Prepares reports that communicate financial and operational forecasts regarding initiatives that support the strategic plan. Collaboration Establishes and maintains effective working relationships among senior leaders and senior management. Communicates regularly with senior leaders and key stakeholders, designing effective financial planning documents that integrate with existing financial and operational reports. Develops and articulates effective change management strategies that emphasizes cross-departmental collaboration. Supports executive team and senior management projects associated with longer-term strategic plans. Actively participates in key meetings and workgroups that inform a consistent understanding of UF COM financial and operational performance, integrating information that informs long-terms planning. Contributes to meetings and workgroups by articulating potential implications of key decisions on planned strategic initiatives. Serves as a liaison with other components of UF and the health science center. Healthcare Internship Management Manages the college’s finance & administration healthcare administration internship program, a business intelligence strategy that leverages operational and financial analytics while developing future healthcare leaders. Invests in the business and leadership development of graduate student administrative interns and fellows, actively coaching early career learners by providing effective feedback and modeling exemplary behaviors. $98,000 – $120,000 |
Minimum Requirements: |
Master’s degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience. |
