You will be our 2nd Line IT Data Centre professional, who will be responsible for the management of two North East based Data Centre’s, responsibilities associated with this role include onsite Warm Hands support to various operational support teams within BT and Openreach. In addition you will also be required to provide consultancy to for both internal and external customers, design assurance, including training & knowledge sharing with upstream support teams.

This 2nd Line IT Data Centre professional will also be responsible for maintaining appropriate skills relative to a Data Centre’s Environment and the customers they serve. This role requires an innovative, engaging, driven individual who has a proven record of achievement and experience in collaborating across teams of highly skilled technical experts.

The successful candidate must be willing to participate in an on call rota at a ratio of 1 week in 4 and to be willing to conduct out of normal office hours planned work.

What you’ll be doing

1. Planning of complex change with first time delivery to ensure sustained service across wide ranges of products and solutions
2. Implementing solutions in a timely manner to ensure service level agreements are met
3. Driving own development plan to maintain skill set and knowledge of BT products and solutions
4. Participating and contributing to continuous improvement and coaching within the team
5. Available when required to work out of hours either on an overtime or on call basis

What we would like to see on your CV

1. Good understanding of Data Centre Rack design regarding equipment power supplies and cooling efficiency
2. Good knowledge of Structured Wiring Systems i.e. Category 5/6 cabling and Fibre Optic distribution systems including the maintenance of accurate patching records
3. Good understanding of Data Centre power distribution and Air Handling/Cooling systems
4. Good understanding of Data Centre monitoring systems for Cooling, Electrical and CCTV systems etc.
5. The successful candidate must be willing to undergo or already hold Government Security Clearance to SC level, which requires residence in the UK for a minimum of 5 years
