Pediatrics Nutritionist
1. Background on World Vision
World Vision is an international Christian humanitarian organization which has been present in Lebanon since 1975.
Background on the ENOUGH campaign
World Vision’s ENOUGH campaign aims to end children’s malnutrition and food insecurity. The organization is advocating to increase investments in school feeding programmes, raise awareness among caregivers about nutritious diets and signs of malnutrition, and ensure continuous monitoring of children’s growth and development to prevent malnutrition.
Purpose
To achieve these goals, we seek the expertise of a qualified Pediatric Nutritionist to develop comprehensive, accessible, and practical content for parents and caregivers.
2. Objectives
The main objectives of this engagement are to:
1. Increase the awareness of parents on healthy eating habits for their children.
2. Educate parents on how to provide high-protein diets by providing them with recipes with non-expensive ingredients.
3. Raise awareness among parents about malnutrition, its signs, and symptoms.
3. Scope of Work
The Pediatrics Nutritionist will be responsible for the following tasks:
1. Content Development
– Create evidence-based educational materials (brochures, pamphlets, infographics, videos, social media posts) on healthy eating habits for children.
– Develop guides and meal plans that focus on high-protein diets suitable for low-budget households.
– Produce informational content on the signs and symptoms of malnutrition, along with prevention strategies.
– Develop a series of recipes and meal plans that incorporate affordable, high-protein ingredients.
2. Interactive Sessions
– Conduct workshops/webinars for parents to disseminate the developed content, if needed.
– Provide practical demonstrations on preparing nutritious, high-protein meals on a budget, with the support of WV’s communications team.
– Facilitate 2 Q&A sessions to address specific concerns and provide tailored advice.
3. Support and Consultation
– Offer ongoing support to the NGO’s team by providing expert advice on nutrition-related matters.
– Review and provide feedback on related content and policy work developed by World Vision to ensure accuracy and relevance, as needed.
4. Deliverables
The Pediatrics Nutritionist is expected to deliver the following:
– Comprehensive educational materials on healthy eating habits for children.
– Input on World Vision’s nutrition related work as needed
– Guides and meal plans focusing on high-protein, low-budget diets.
– Informational content on malnutrition, including signs, symptoms, and prevention.
– A series of at least two workshops/webinars conducted over the engagement period, if needed.
5. Duration of Assignment
The assignment will take place during the month of September.
6. Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate should possess:
– A degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field, with a specialization in pediatric nutrition.
– At least 3 years of experience working as a nutritionist, preferably with children and in community settings.
– Proven experience in developing educational materials and conducting workshops.
– Excellent communication and presentation skills.
– A strong commitment to promoting child health and well-being.
