Job Description:

The Student Health Care Center (SHCC) at the University of Florida within the Department of Community Health and Family Medicine (CHFM) is seeking a full-time Cashier. The essential duties are cash and credit card handling, operating the point-of-sale system, scanning, data entry into Excel spreadsheets, and reconciliation of reports within SHCC’s Pharmacy, and possessing good customer service skills.

Cashier Duties:           

  • Working in a high-volume area, the Pharmacy of SHCC.
  • Cash and credit card handling.
  • Ability to understand and operate the point-of-sale system in the pharmacy cashier area.
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Office-based fiscal office duties as assigned:

  • Scanning, data entry into Excel spreadsheets, and reconciliation of reports.
  • Data entry into Excel spreadsheets.
  • Assisting with special financial projects.
  • Report reconciliations.
  • Other office duties as needed.
  • Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00 am-5:00 pm

Expected Salary:

The salary range is between $15.00-$17.00 per hour and is commensurate with skills and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

A high school diploma and one year of appropriate experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to work Monday-Friday 8 am to 5 pm.
  • Must be punctual.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to stoop, bend, kneel.
  • One year of appropriate experience and basic math skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft applications, including Excel.
  • Process cash and credit card handling.
  • Experience working in a high-volume cashier position.
  • Possess good customer service skills and the ability to interact professionally with SHCC patients.
  • Ability to understand and operate the point-of-sale system.
  • Ability to be compliant with all State and University of Florida policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work in an office setting – scanning, data entry into Excel spreadsheets, and reconciliation of reports.
  • Ability to communicate efficiently in writing and verbally.
  • Possess and exercise good attention to detail and accuracy.
