Description of the Assignment: 4.2.2 Marketing Consultant, Freetown Treetown, Freetown, Sierra Leone

Period of assignment/services (if applicable): 6 months.

The purpose of consultancy is to provide communications and reporting support to the Freetown City Council (FCC) for the implementation of the #FreetownTheTreeTown campaign, one of the winners of the 2021 Global Mayor’s Challenge. The project provides monetary incentives for local communities to plant trees, establishing a tree investment platform that funds additional reforestation. Using geospatial tagging for each new tree, the initiative creates tree tokens in the hopes of developing a new market focused on the reforestation of the city. This initiative offers a unique opportunity to use market forces to drive climate action at the community level.

 UNDP is looking to select a consultant to  support the #FreetownTheTreeTown campaign and the Freetown City Council (FCC) in

(1)    elaborate the project natural capital investment marketing strategy, with a focus on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) targeting corporate and institutional investors to attract investment to the #FreetownTheTreeTown project,

(2)    create marketing tools for the project, including designing branding and pitch materials to promote the project opportunities to corporate and institutional investors in the private and carbon markets, in collaboration with the project team,

(3)    organize at least two events to present the #FreetownTheTreeTown project to introduce the opportunities for commercial success in the voluntary carbon and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) / corporate sustainability markets,
