The mission of Hidden Valley 4-H Camp is to provide youth with a fun, residential camp experience under the guidance of positive role models that emphasize community building, positive social interactions, environmental awareness, and skill building.
The Day Camp Manager oversees daily operations for day campers, including Cloverbud campers (6-7). The Day Camp Manager will assist with the training and supervision of staff and assist the Program Specialist with administrative tasks related to campers, including following the Day Camper Safety Plan.
Duration
The Day Camp Manager will assume the role on June 23rd, 2024 to assist in opening camp with the senior staff team and help prepare for staff training week. The Day Camp Manager will work during two training weeks, June 23rd-28th and June 30th-July 7th, plus five weeks and one partial week of day camp that runs from Sunday morning to Friday afternoon. The camp is in session for 2024 from July 7th to August 13th. Day camp is held from Monday at 8:00 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. daily. There may be early drop off at 7:30 a.m. and late pick up through 6:00 p.m. for some campers needing wrap-around care. The Day Camp Manager may live on or off camp property for the camp season.
Specific Responsibilities

Oversight and integration of day campers into the residential camp program

Assist in leading staff training for the inclusion of day campers with the Program Manager, Assistant Manager, and Camp Manager

Assist Camp Manager in weekly staff meetings on topics that assist with Day and Residential camp coordination.

Work with Camp Health Manager on daily health checks and communication with parents regarding health issues

Establish good rapport and communicate with parents or guardians of day campers during check-in and pick-up.

Oversee and assist in daily sign-in and sign-out of all-day campers using the Ultracamp platform to assist.

Serve as a positive role model in language, appearance, and behavior.

Review, understand, and follow the Day Camp Health and Safety Plan

Support and embrace diversity in all interactions with campers, other staff members, volunteers, and parents. Implement programs that engage diverse backgrounds, interests, and learning styles.

Oversee and implement all program development for Day Camp.

Additional Duties may be assigned as necessary.
Essential Functions

Communicate verbally with campers and counselor staff to provide daily activity instruction.

Have the visual ability to recognize hazards in the camp setting as well as physical symptoms of camper injury or illness
-
Have the auditory ability to respond appropriately to hazards and any camper concerns
-
Be able to observe camper behavior in daily camp life, respond verbally to health and safety concerns, and deal appropriately with any improper behavior
Qualifications

21 years of age or older
-
Experience working with youth in an outdoor camp setting

Early childhood experience preferred
-
Knowledge of 4-H and Positive Youth Development desired

Ability to supervise and organize youth and adults

Current First Aid Responding to Emergency and CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certificates desired
POSITION DETAILS:
This is a full-time, (TEMPORARY) exempt position.
Salary and Benefit Details
The rate of pay will be $2500.00. (Rate will be reduced for any time scheduled but not worked during the period) The pay rate is commensurate with experience, certifications, responsibilities, and availability. Benefits are not available for this position.
