Offer Description

The aim of this project is to develop novel preclinical treatment interventions to address the early onset of the neurodegenerational disorders of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, along with cell and animal models and biomarkers for this purpose. In this context the successful applicant will be asked to a) thoroughly clinically assess patients with Parkinson’s disease on the island of Crete via a structured interview and using numerous standardized scales, b) collect biological samples of patients with Parkinson’s disease, including blood, urine, cerebrovascular fluid or other, c) perform DNA extraction from whole blood samples of Parkinson’s disease patients, and d) organize a database and a biobank of the enrolled Parkinson’s disease patients.

Skills/Qualifications

The successful applicant is required to: 1. be a trained Neurologist. 2. be a PhD candidate in Medical Schoοl in the domain of Neuroscienes. The PhD should focus on Parkinson’s disease. 3. have professional experience on the laboratory technique of DNA extraction (minimum of 6 months). 4. have professional experience on Parkinson’s disease (minimum of 2 years after acquiring the Medical degree). 5. have excellent knowledge of English language. 6. have publications in international journals (minimum of 5).

Selection process

Candidates who meet at least the requested qualifications of the call, will be in invited to an interview, which will take place upon notification by the Evaluation Committee
