Offer Description

Area of research:

Scientific / postdoctoral posts,Sonstiges

Job description:

The Institute of Vehicle Concepts is looking for a scientific employee in the department “Vehicle Architectures and Lightweight Concepts” in the area of methods development for optimization of crash-relevant structures.

The focus of the scientific work is the integration of new AI methods into the automotive development process to be able to derive optimal crash structures. The work is carried out in an interdisciplinary research environment, in order to jointly explore machine learning methodologies and their integration into the DLR internal development platform. The work includes the analysis, methodological derivation, and integration of novel AI algorithms for the optimization of highly non-linear response functions common in the design of crash-relevant vehicle structures. The developed approaches and algorithms should be continuously analyzed with respect to their performance and limitations. Due to the fundamental orientation of the project, interest in pursuing a PhD is seen as advantageous.

This research center is part of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers. With more than 42,000 employees and an annual budget of over € 5 billion, the Helmholtz Association is Germany’s largest scientific organisation.
