Action Against Hunger (ACF) has been operating in Afghanistan since 1979. Its very first mission, has seen a strong focus on emergency responses, targeting primarily refugees, Internally Displaced Persons, and flood/drought affected populations. Integrated projects in nutrition and health, water, sanitation and hygiene, food security and livelihoods, and in mental health and care practices are implemented in 4 provinces. Our work with local partners is essential to gain access to more geographical areas.

The recent political development that followed a period of drought and heavy fighting has plunged the country into an even more profound crisis in the economic aspect, includingthe shutdown of the financial institutions, the suspension of international structural funding, and fears of food shortage and higher inflation.

In 2023, two-thirds of Afghanistan’s population need urgent humanitarian assistance to survive as the countryenters its third consecutive year of drought-like conditions and the second year of crippling economic decline while still reeling from the effects of 40 years of conflict and recurrent natural disasters. The mission employs 450 staff in five operational bases : Kabul, Helmand, Ghor, Daikundi, and Badakhshan. ACF teams address the underlying conditions leading to deadly malnutrition and food insecurity and provideaccess to basic health services.

Votre poste et vos responsabilités

Your main responsability will be to coordinate ACF intervention in Daykundi province.

More precisely, you will:

• Contribute to ACF country strategy development and implementation.
• Coordinate overall implementation of programs at field level, identify opportunies for applications, facilitate the development of new projects.
• Manage the team at field level: ensure that all programs and development have adequate plannings, recruiting your team, organize base meetings, monitor the social climate, manage overall the training needs.
• Facilitate good relationships with the coordination team by updating them on program implementation, ensuring field teams proactively express relevant demands for support to the coordination team.
• Monitore the security environment, maintaining an effective network on contextual and security matters, organize security and context briefings, managing security incidents

Votre profil

• You have a Master’s degree (o a Bachelor’s degree with a strong experience) in international relations, development studies or related technical discipline relevant for ACF programs.
• You have at least 5 years of experience in a similar position, in INGOs. A previous experience in an insecure setting is an advantage.
• You have an experience in successful proposal development.
• You have excellent management skills (HR, projects, stress management).
• You have an advanced knowledge of donors’ guidelines and procedures (ECHO, UNICEF, DFID, OFDA, etc.).
• You have a demonstrated ability to organize, train and motivate a multicultural team.
• You are fluent in English.

Vos conditions d’emploi

• 12 months of fixed-term contract under French law (for international candidates) or Afghan law (for national candidates)
• Remuneration according to ACF’s policy
