Context

DRC has been present in Burkina Faso since 2013 with 6 field offices (Dori, Kaya, Ouahigouya, Djibo, Gorom-Gorom and Dédougou) and 01 country office in Ouagadougou. It mainly intervenes in the areas of protection, water, hygiene and sanitation, food security and livelihoods. The organization develops a community approach and seeks, through the implementation of multidisciplinary and cross-border projects, sustainable solutions for populations affected by the conflict – refugees, internally displaced persons, host populations, vulnerable people.

With over one million internally displaced people, approximately 30% of whom have been displaced for a year or more, the humanitarian community must constantly reflect on the short, medium and long-term programmatic perspectives to be implemented. DRC’s program in Burkina Faso focuses on community recovery and development with a multi-sectoral approach.

About the position

  • The Analyst Specialist will be part of the DRC Burkina Faso protection team, under the supervision of the Protection Department Manager, the general objective of the position is to support the DRC Protection Department and the Protection Cluster co-coordinator in developing protection analyses and supporting the implementation of analysis processes (as part of the application of the Protection Analytical Framework (PAF) and the analysis based on protection risks), including joint protection analyses in order to inform sectoral planning and response and more broadly the DRC humanitarian response. The analyst will also be able to support the co-coordinator in developing analyses for the Protection Cluster at the national level and for Protection Clusters at the regional level.  

Responsibilities: (most important points)

Operational and implementation

  • In coordination with information managers, and under the leadership of the protection manager, use primary data collected by DRC (and partners) triangulated with available secondary data, to develop thematic, ad hoc analyses of protection trends, etc.
  • In coordination with other volunteers within the Protection Cluster, take over the DEEP project of the Burkina Faso Protection Cluster to continue to feed and tag on the platform and participate in the analysis of exports.
  • In coordination with information managers, on a monthly and/or quarterly basis, organize a data presentation meeting and an analysis proposal to the DRC teams
  • Participate in the creation and monitoring of an information landscape at national and regional level, including information from local sources.

Capacity building and training

  • Following enhanced technical support, the analyst will be responsible for supporting the development and deployment of protection analysis training on PAF and DEEP within DRC teams and volunteer members of the Protection Cluster (at national and sub-national levels)
  • Support the facilitation of protection analysis for DRC teams and involved members of the Protection Cluster (at national and sub-national level)

Experience and technical skills

  • Experience in processing primary and secondary data and in managing secondary data in a humanitarian context, mastery of the DEEP platform highly valued
  • Experience in developing and using analytical frameworks, preferably in the protection sector
  • Experience in synthesis work and analytical writing, as well as techniques and approaches for collecting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Understanding of protection and PIM with experience working with the Protection Analytical Framework (PAF)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage with diverse stakeholders
