  • Classification: SCHADS Level 4 with a salary range of $85,205 – $91,686 + Superannuation

About your new role

The Aboriginal Liaison Officer will provide engagement, stabilisation, navigation and ongoing support for people accessing Penrith and Hawkesbury Head to Health Services. The position will work with all people accessing the centre but will be available to provide culturally safe responses for people who identify as Aboriginal and /or Torres Strait Islander. This position contributes to the understanding of the well-being needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and will work within the team to assist with the development and delivery of social and emotional well-being support, culture and knowledge. It is essential that the successful applicant has significant experience working with and has connections to, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Island communities.

What you will bring to the role

  • Identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander (This is a genuine occupational qualification under section 8(1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth), and Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW)
  • Significant experience working with people and services within the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities
  • Computer literacy
  • Previous experience working with people who have a mental illness or experienced a mental health crisis including suicidal crisis.
  • Experience and knowledge working with consumers that identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander

  • National Criminal History Check (police check) – disclosable outcomes considered
  • Current Working with Children Check – required before commencement of work
  • Current Australian drivers licence and access to a car
  • Australian working rights
