ADA Australia is a state-wide, not-for-profit, independent, community-based advocacy and education service, supporting and improving the wellbeing of older people and people with disability. ADA Australia has nine offices throughout Queensland, with its head office located in Geebung.
ADA Australia is seeking applications for a permanent full-time/part-time Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Advocate for the Cairns area. This position is a SACS level 5.1 position under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010.
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advocate provides information, education, representation and advocacy support to ADA Australia’s clients, in particular those from Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander communities, to ensure that clients are sufficiently informed to enable them to make their own choices and have their rights and interests respected and upheld.
This is an identified position. ADA Australia considers that being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational requirement under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act QLD 1991.
