About the opportunity

As the Aboriginal Wellbeing Support Worker, you will provide recovery-oriented, evidence-based support interventions to our Aboriginal clients.

Your initial focus will be on resolving the immediate needs of clients to stabilise social and emotional well-being, substance abuse, legal issues and finances. You will then engage and develop trusting and professional relationships with clients to support them in reaching their goals focused on healing, recovery and social inclusion.

You will be able to grow your skills and experience and be part of a supportive multidisciplinary team in our Mental Health & Wellbeing Service, located in a brand-new purpose-built facility in Hazelwood Road.

About the program

Our Mental Health & Wellbeing Service provides a ‘no wrong door’ approach to connect community members to the right support. It is designed to provide a holistic approach to care and a multidisciplinary team model with a strong focus on lived experience and high engagement.

Neami is the key provider of this Mental Health & Wellbeing Service model, and the service is delivered in partnership with Uniting and Drummond Street Services.

In addition to your salary (SCHADS Level 3) plus superannuation, you can also access the following:

About you

You will bring with you:

  • Demonstrated understanding of contemporary Aboriginal culture and the key issues affecting Aboriginal families who may be homeless or at risk of homelessness
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health system and the mental health issues impacting the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other services, agencies and professionals to achieve optimal client outcomes
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and engage in a culturally responsive manner
