THE POSITION

The Academic Administrative Assistant (AAA) performs a variety of clerical and administrative duties in support of faculty and students in the Department of Literatures in English; Department of Creative Writing and the Reading Series; and the Writing Program and Center.

The position will serve as a receptionist and office support for the English House; handle bookkeeping and budget management functions; monitor office printer/copier; enters service requests and orders supplies. Serves as liaison to Facilities and Housekeeping; updates the departments’ and programs’ websites; assists with student advising; works with the Registrar on course scheduling for the departments and programs and to manage student records; provides support in the tenure, promotion and reappointment process as well manages logistics for faculty searches.  Assists with special programs such as The Reading Series, lectures and department functions, arranges field trips and events, hires student workers, other duties as assigned.

Three to five years of administrative experience in an academic environment with progressively increasing responsibilities or any combination of skills, education and training which provides the necessary skills, abilities, and knowledge required.  Proficiency with computer software packages, including MS Office. Experience with and/or an aptitude for learning enterprise software e.g. Peoplesoft, Financial Edge, Blackboard, Moodle, Slate, OnBase is preferred.
