Requests for exemption can take up to two weeks to review. Vaccination or an approved exemption is required to start work.
Job Description
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center invites applications for an academic cancer cytogeneticist at the Assistant or Associate Attending level. The position is based in the Clinical Cytogenetics Laboratory which operates under the direct leadership of Dr Yanming Zhang and is one of three clinical laboratories that form the Molecular Diagnostics Service, under the overall leadership of Dr Marc Ladanyi as Service Chief. The lab provides high quality clinical diagnostic tests used in the evaluation of hematologic neoplasms and various solid tumors by applying conventional chromosome analysis, numerous gene specific FISH assays, and cytogenomic microarray studies, applications with which the successful candidate should already be familiar. Implementation and validation of novel state-of the-art techniques such as optical genome mapping (OGM) will be an important ongoing aspect of this position. Ample opportunities for collaboration on research projects within the lab, service, and department are available.
Applicants should have a strong clinical and/or research track record in cancer cytogenetics and genomics with solid skills, knowledge and expertise in karyotyping, FISH analysis and genomic microarray testing. Candidates should be eligible for a Certificate of Qualification in clinical cytogenetics from the New York State Department of Health. An M.D. or Ph.D. is required. Board Certification in Clinical Cytogenetics and Genomics (ABMGG) and/or Board Certification in Molecular Genetic Pathology (ABP/ABMG) are preferred. Candidates with hands on experience in data analysis and interpretation in OGM testing are strongly encouraged. Candidate should demonstrate high motivation and commitment to excellent patient care, research collaborations, and academic engagement. Memorial Sloan-Kettering is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer and complies with all applicable federal and state laws regarding non-discrimination and affirmative action.
