About the assignment
We’re seeking an Academic English Language Mentor for Research Centre Society and Culture (PMB) who can volunteer remotely from home for six months. Join the Australian Volunteers Program to contribute to sustainable development across Asia Archipelago.
About the Partner Organisation:
Research Center for Society and Culture (PMB) is a research centre under the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities, National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). PMB BRIN has two primary research focuses on society and culture. The subject of our research centre is a society with its diversity and complexity, examining beyond the statistical data as population numbers. It also covers research on the societal organisation, its values (religious, spiritual or metaphysical, social, and cultural), world views and culture. Our researchers derive from different social and humanities backgrounds such as anthropology, sociology, history, linguistics, communication, philosophy, law, economics, psychology, criminology, and another relevant background.
The diverse scientific backgrounds enable the PMB researchers to unfold the different societal layers and perspectives in Indonesian society, including within one community, inter-communities, and regions with different identities, characteristics, dynamics and relations. PMB also conveys the voice of the non-mainstream communities or groups, such as minority groups, remote communities, traditional or customary communities, vulnerable groups and the power relations in rural and urban areas, in agricultural, forestry, or maritime context. In cultural research themes, PMB focuses on local communities’ particular identities and cultural richness, such as the oral traditions or traditional knowledge of herbs and medicines, local delicacies, and local designs reflected in local crafts, housings or other cultural artefacts.
About the Position:
- You’ll need to increase the number and quality of international publications of our researchers.
- You’ll need experience to support the centre to advance the researcher’s English writing skills for publication
- You’ll gain working closely with the researcher and respected institutions in Indonesia
Allowance: $79
Allowance figures are per month; Allowance figures are $131 ( full-time) and $79 (part-time).

Special requirements
- The Partner Organisation’s preference for this role is part-time (Less than 25h per week).
