Under supervision by the Academic Personnel Manager, the Academic HR Analyst 1 is responsible for the analysis and administration of academic affairs and personnel for the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) department. The incumbent is responsible for all personnel actions for assigned academic appointees.

The incumbent learns to apply professional UC Academic HR concepts, organization and/or system-wide policies, and procedures in the completion of UC Academic HR assignments that are of limited scope and impact. The Academic HR Analyst 1 receives instructions on most work assignments, and regularly consults with more senior AP HR Analysts and/or manager in the course of completing assignments. Exercises some judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action.

The incumbent will assume overall responsibility in all matters related to appointment/reappointment files for postdocs, visiting scholars/graduate students, and other temporary faculty positions; responsible for completing employment paperwork and UCPath entries. Ensure compliance with all Academic Personnel policies and procedures, and all Union contract requirements and restrictions. Prepare all visa documentation and ensure compliance with INS regulations and restrictions. Assist Dept. AP staff with faculty review file preparation. Process and track academic leaves of absences including sabbaticals, research, and leaves with or without pay. Coordinate the processing of annual conflict of commitment forms for faculty.

  • Bachelor’s degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

  • Acquiring knowledge of and ability to apply / interpret organization and college policies and procedures which govern academic HR.

  • Acquiring knowledge of organization, college, and departmental formal and informal policies and procedures, and understanding of variances to stated policies.

  • Acquiring knowledge of organization’s human resource management system (HRMS) and other related business software programs and systems.

  • Acquiring knowledge of unit academic culture and educational goals of discipline(s) served.

  • Analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organizational and problem-solving skills.

  • Skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

  • Background check required.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $52,100 – $87,900 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $24.95 – $42.10

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
