Department Summary: 

The Department of Mental Health Law and Policy (MHLP) is one of six departments/schools in the College of Behavioral and Community Sciences (CBCS) and department faculty are integral members of the Louis de la Parte Florida Mental Health Institute (FMHI).  The department promotes academic excellence by providing leadership and opportunities that enhance manpower development and personal growth in a fully engaged learner-centered environment.  The mission of the department is to promote the health and quality of life of people with mental and substance use disorders by creating, evaluating, disseminating and translating state-of-the-art knowledge to support effective practice across behavioral health and criminal justice systems.

Position Summary:  

 The position serves as the point of contact to students, prospective students, and faculty on matters related to course management, enrollment, space, policies and procedures of our undergraduate Behavioral Healthcare major and minor, and provides administrative support the Academic Program Director.

  • Develop course schedules for the undergraduate Behavioral Healthcare program; coordinate the submission and development process for new course offerings and course revisions; coordinate space requirements and classroom logistics as needed to ensure seamless delivery of instruction; supervise the ordering of books requests from faculty; process course permits; maintain student records and conduct grad checks; process graduate student tuition waivers.
  • Administer academic policies and advise faculty, staff, and students on policy matters related to the academic program. Manage the credentialing of adjuncts and graduate teaching assistants, maintain credentialing forms and transcripts for adjunct faculty; maintain teaching faculty assignment data; assist faculty by grading and proctoring course exams.

  • Fulfill department responsibilities for admissions recruitment and program marketing; analyze quantitative and qualitative data to produced reports for internal and external use, including accreditation reviews; write reports and prepare presentations about the Behavioral Healthcare program, instructional activity, and program planning.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):

Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires a Master’s degree in education or a field of study related to the academic program, or a Bachelor’s degree in those same fields and a minimum of 2 years experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Two years experience in an academic setting and experience with Banner/Oasis.
