We are seeking an Academic Specialist in Environmental Science that will oversee curriculum improvement, experiential learning, and program instruction in the environmental sustainability program. The Academic Specialist will report to the Project Director.

This is a full-time grant funded position. 

Example of Duties:

• Revise five (5) courses in the A.S Degree Program in Environmental Sustainability.
• Solicit input from Subject Mater Experts in course improvement.
• Provide instruction in improved courses.
• Help place students in experiential learning activities.
• Participate in professional development.
• Market and promote the program activities on campus and in the community.
• Conduct student workshops.
• Establish Climate Change Laboratory.
• Supervise part-time Laboratory Coordinator.
• Disseminate program information at conferences.
• Participate in project evaluation.
• Facilitate institutionalization of activities into the College’s operations.
• Facilitate collaboration and communication with our partner (4-year institution)
• Recruit students to be enrolled in the Environmental Sustainability program.
• Attend the monthly conference call with NASA.
• Teach 8 credits per semester.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree (required) in STEM discipline.
• An undergraduate degree in any of the following areas: Environmental Sustainability, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Environmental Engineering, Climate Change, or related field (required).
• Teaching experience (at least 3-years) / preferably in community college.
• Outstanding leadership, supervisory, communication and project management skills.
• Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred.

The completion of a background check will be required for the selected candidate.
