The Organisation
This organisation has nearly 20 years of promoting community, safety and health in the Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. Through various programs and initiatives, they are all about enhancing the lives and culture of their community and aim to provide an inclusive, welcoming and accessible environment.
The organisation is looking for an experienced Access & Support Worker to assist in improving access and advocacy for those in need.
The Role
This busy role will see you managing the following:
- Promote and increase participation in their programs and provide information to the local Indigenous community about the Access & Support Program to raise awareness
- Build effective engagement and relationships with community members, partnering organisations and relevant stakeholders
- Use an early intervention/assertive approach to consult, engage, develop respectful relationships, identify access issues and actively seek feedback from individuals to inform service responses
- Work collaboratively with the leadership team, program workers, community groups and other stakeholders in order to meet the needs of the Access and Support clients
- Develop, implement and monitor Access and Support programs and outcomes to ensure they meet the reporting expectations of the organisation and funding agency expectations
The Person
The following knowledge, skills and experience are requirements of the position
- Certificate IV in Community Services/Development and/or equivalent experience in working as an Access and Support Worker and or other related community support services
- Demonstrated knowledge of Home and Community Care Program for Younger People (HACC PYP) and the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP)
- The ability to advocate on behalf of clients by providing sound advice and assistance based on knowledge and experience.
- A current first aid certificate or willingness to obtain and a current Victorian Driver’s License
- A current or willingness to obtain a Working with Children Check and National Police Check
