About the team
This role is a 24-month part time contract with an opportunity to extend, 3 days per week based at Inala House in Tamworth, reporting to the Manager, Community and sits within the Cancer Information & Support Services Division.
About the role
This role is key in the delivery of patient accommodation and the promotion and coordination of Cancer Council information and Support Services within the surrounding community. This role is responsible for the day to day operations of Inala House, that provides accommodation for patients from remote communities receiving cancer treatment at the North West Cancer Centre.
Inala House is jointly supported by Cancer Council NSW and Hunter New England Local Health District. This role is shared with the Community Coordinator- Accommodation Services and a team of volunteers to ensure support is provided 5 days per week at the facility.
Key responsibilities of the role:
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the facility through the coordination of enquires, bookings and delivery of Cancer Council information and support services with a client centric focus.
- Ensure the facility meets the needs of people affected by Cancer and their carers.
- Ensure Inala House is appropriately marketed and promoted to assist in high occupancy rates, ensuring the people who need the centre most are given priority
- Ensure all guests receive orientation to the facility.
- Manage administration requirements of the facility including IPTAAS claims.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders to promote referrals and effective use of Cancer Council information and Support Services.
- Collaborate with key community and internal stakeholders to identify and address gaps in service provision and opportunities to improve the client experience while at Inala House.
- Understanding of the terms of the service agreement with Local Health District are adhered to through the delivery of patient accommodation and Cancer Council support services.
- Ensure accurate quality data and reporting is completed in a timely manner.
- Recruit, manage and support volunteer teams to deliver Cancer Council information and support services such as Transport to Treatment Services and to support the facility.
- Inspire volunteers through recognition and learning and development opportunities.
About you
Qualification in health-related discipline or similar, along with:
Essential:
- Demonstrated experience in delivery and coordination of health or health related information and support services
- Experience working collaboratively as part of a team, along with high levels of independence and initiative.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and develop strong and effective relationships with health and community care professionals,
- Experience working with volunteers and/or community groups, including developing and expanding the role of volunteer
- Well-developed administration and organisational skills
- Demonstrated understanding of the effects of cancer on individuals and families
- High level computer literacy in Microsoft Office and understanding of reporting.
- An understanding of the Isolated Patients Travel and Accommodation Assistance Scheme IPTASS
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours (including weekends and evenings).
- Willingness to complete National Criminal Record Checks, including Working With Children Checks and adhere to the NSW Health Vaccination requirement
- Class C drivers licence
Desirable:
- Understanding of, and commitment to, the charitable sector
- Demonstrated understanding of working with priority populations
- Experience in developing the public profile of a community-based organisation/program
