All About You

Saint Louis University is looking for a self-motivated accountant to join our Business and Finance team. In this role, you’ll play an important role in our company’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy in accounting and compliance with the law.

The Accountant is responsible for monitoring and reconciling various accounts in the general ledger. This position assists in the preparation of various financial statements. This position is also responsible for reconciling University bank accounts and for completing special projects and analyses, as needed.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Reconciles various bank accounts on a monthly basis

• Provides support in transitioning to automated bank reconciliations in Workday

• Ensure the accurate and timely reconciliation of various general ledger accounts on a quarterly basis

• Prepares journal entries

• Analyzes various expense accounts and prepares projections on a quarterly basis

• Files and remits tax payments and other financial obligations

• Manages unclaimed property and submissions to the state

• Assists with the annual audit, providing support as requested

• Participates in special projects and ad hoc requests as needed

• Performs other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and auditing standards

• Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports

• Ability to work with a high level of professionalism

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Strong interpersonal skills

• Strong organizational skills

• Ability to maintain confidentiality

• Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting

• Three or more years of accounting experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree in accounting

• Previous experience using Workday as a financial system
