Job description
Raisely helps nonprofits across the world bring their fundraising ideas to life. We’re a purpose-driven remote team, spread across 7 countries and 17 cities.
We’re looking for a brilliant finance professional who can seamlessly assume all the day-to-day financial operations of Raisely. By joining our team, you’ll not only get to deepen your finance and bookkeeping skills but also save lives, save our climate, and support the most vulnerable people in our society.
About the role
You’ll be stepping into a new role at Raisely, assuming responsibilities that were previously shared, joining our small but mighty Operations team. Alongside the Head of Finance, who you’ll be reporting into, you’ll together be covering the whole finance function.
Jumping right into the day-to-day, you’ll be ready to bring calm and diligence to our maturing finance function. You’re not phased by the more monotonous aspects of the role and equally you’re not scared off by global operations, new software tools and a high growth environment.
You’ll get excited at the thought of a financially healthy, and growing company. You know that many indicators of success in this role will be in meeting deadlines, so you’ll be diligent and efficient with your work to ensure these are met.
Like all roles at Raisely, you should be an excellent communicator, believe in the values behind our customer screen, and leave your ego at the door (amplifying others is one of our 3 core values).
Hours
This role is 100% remote, full-time and permanent. You’ll be expected to do 5 days/38hrs a week while you’re getting up to speed, then around the three month mark, you will be eligible to move to 4 days/30.4hrs as part of our 4 Day Work Week policy.
Location
We can employ you anywhere on the east coast of Australia.
What will you be doing?
Here’s some things that you might tackle in your first few months. Importantly, we’ll be here to support you along the way.
- Processing our fortnightly payroll, along with the other associated payments, like superannuation and state payroll tax.
- Staying on top of bank transactions and letting the team know when that awaited invoice payment comes through
- Diligently work through our monthly reporting deliverables, marking off each task as you go
- Learning new tools – you’re already a Xero expert but you’ll now be managing tasks in Notion, updating Google Sheets, keeping in touch with our team via Slack, keeping an eye on Metabase dashboards and creating consolidated management reports in Fathom.
- Reconciling our quarterly GST to prepare the BAS for lodgement.
- Checking our upcoming retreat budget is on track before we lock in that bike riding tour.
- Making sure Notion is updated with recent changes to our Travel Policy
- Providing documentation to support our upcoming B Corp recertification process
- Sharing photos of your latest tomato haul in #gardening, or pics of your fur/human kids in #raisely_fams on Slack.
- Sending supporting documentation ahead of an upcoming audit
- Making a suggestion on how we could make some of our tasks more efficient through automation or other process enhancements.
What we’re looking for
You love the numbers, and you’re a Xero expert
Numbers are your happy place and you have a thorough understanding of accounting principles and procedures. Even more than that though, you’re able to interpret those numbers into the story they’re telling. You’ve got your bachelors degree in Accounting, maybe even a CA or CPA, and have been in accounting roles for a good handful years now.
You’re also familiar with Xero, you’ve used it in previous roles and can hit the ground running, setting up bank rules, processing inter-company transactions and running a Budget Variance P&L from day one.
You have superb attention to detail
This is a role where the dollars and cents matter, we want you to sweat the small things. You’ll need to be highly organised so that you can get the details right, even under pressure.
You’re good at juggling
You’re not phased by needing to juggle lots of different priorities and tasks at the same time, and enjoy the variety this brings to your role. When there’s a lot of deadlines looming, you can look ahead and plan your workload so everything gets done on time.
You care about making a difference
Yeah, we’re all here because we want to make the world better (and by that we mean a carbon-neutral utopia with world peace and just laws, where all people are treated the same with equal opportunity to thrive). So you’ve gotta want that too!
Ok, and why work with us?
This ain’t no NFT’s for rainforests pyramid scheme. In your first week with us, you’ll be a part of helping vetted charities raise 2.5 million dollars for everything from responding to crisis to curing cancer.
Working at Raisely is unique. You’ll be joining a company that puts purpose-before-profit and believes that business can and should be a force for good in the world.
If you needed more convincing, here’s the rest of it
- Salary – We benchmark salaries based on similar roles in Sydney, Australia. This role will pay between $85-95k + super depending on your experience.
- 4 Day Week & Flexible Hours – Working here is about getting your work done, not clocking hours. You’ll be eligible to work a 4 Day Week at full pay once you’re past onboarding. We’ll work with you to figure out hours that work with you, and we’re flexible when life gets in the way.
- Technology – The usuals. We’ll get you a laptop and screen when you start, plus help you set up your home office.
- ‘In-Person’Retreats – Every 18 months or so, we fly you somewhere pretty for our team retreats. Our next one was in the Hunter Valley, NSW!
- Annual Leave – Everyone gets 4 weeks paid leave plus 11 days of public holidays, to be taken when you like. Plus, you are entitled to generous paid sick leave.
- Work remotely – We’re a remote-first company – live and work wherever you’re happiest. We’ll cover a coworking space if you’d like to work there.
- Calm Company – ⅓ of us are parents, another ⅓ are parents to fur babies, and the other ⅓, well, they have lives too, so we strive to respect each others personal time.
- Training – We’ll support you when you want to learn new skills or pay for conference or course tickets.
