Normal Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm
Job Summary: The Accounting Assistant III maintains accurate financial records. Provides accounting and bookkeeping support. Assist University staff in understanding industry standards, current laws, and university policy as it relates to the financial affairs of the University. Provides guidance, trains, and/or may train entry-level Accounting Assistants.
Additional Department Summary: Coordinates with the College of Engineering financial office to oversee the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) departmental budget responsibilities, which includes the management of a variety of funds (state appropriation, endowments, gifts, contracts and grants). Provides support for the ECE Department Head, faculty, and students, as well as performs all aspects of budgeting and purchasing oversight for the area.
Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and four (4) years of accounting or bookkeeping experience; OR associate’s degree and two (2) years of accounting or bookkeeping experience; OR bachelor’s degree.
Skills and Knowledge: Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills. Efficient and accurate computer and data entry skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic setting. Ability to work at a rapid pace in a team environment with numerous interruptions and cope with stressful conditions. Ability to research and prepare comprehensive reports. Knowledge of University bid, quote, and sole-source policies.
Preferred Qualifications: Bookkeeping and/or accounting experience of reconciling budgets (state and/or grant funds), as well as experience using specific UA systems (Banner, Concur, Everest, Astra) and knowledge of the University’s financial accounting, purchasing, and travel policies and procedures.
